The citizens of Hancock County have truly blessed me by allowing me to serve them for the past 30 years as a public servant in many different capacities. I began my service at the young age of 17 as a Volunteer Firefighter, then became a professional firefighter at 18, and later entered a very rewarding career in law enforcement at the age of 21, a career I proudly continue today.

Being a public servant is a selfless calling that should always remain focused on the citizens who place their trust in you. For that trust, I am honored and deeply grateful. Having the opportunity to be in a position where you can truly make a difference is what has made this career my greatest source of pride. For that, I simply say, thank you.

During my 16 years of full-time service with the Waveland Police Department, I held many roles, including Patrolman, Patrol Supervisor, Narcotics Investigator, Criminal Investigator, and Department Training Officer just to name a few. After completing that chapter of service, I transitioned into small business ownership and currently work as a chemical operator to better support my growing family. Even then, my commitment to service never stopped, as I continued serving the community for the past 10 years as a part-time officer the Waveland Police Department then, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Today, law enforcement faces serious challenges, most notably officer shortages which makes recruitment more difficult. Addressing these challenges requires experience and a clear understanding of what officers need to succeed, do their jobs safely, and remain committed to serving our county.

It is critical and should be a Sheriff’s top priority, that we retain the experienced officers within our department. We must keep officers who interact well with the public, are properly trained, adequately equipped, and backed by strong leadership and good morale. This is imperative for the safety of the citizens of Hancock County. The Sheriff’s Office I envision will be a career destination, not a stepping stone.
